Considering the specific learning and support needs for students with autism spectrum
disorders (ASD) in the inclusive classroom, participants of this workshop will learn
processes to adaptively personalize and improve the quality of educational settings.  
Included will be how to provide rationales for curricular adaptations, differentiated
instruction and universal design in the general classroom, how to set up an
IEP-at-a-glance tool for supporting students, how to orchestrate a planning process so
student needs are creatively met in a quality fashion and ideas for differentiation and
universal design.

The Georgia Department of Education has approved this
conference for 1 PLU for those attending both conference days.
Certificates of attendance are also available. There are a total of
12 lecture hours during this conference. No other types of credit
are being offered at this time.

Graduate Credit:  (Parents not eligible for graduate credit)
Up to 2 credits are available. Workshop participants may choose
to register for graduate credit through Silver Lake College,
Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Silver Lake College is accredited by the
North Central Association of Colleges and the National Council for
Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

Participants who choose this option will have the opportunity to
extend the workshop knowledge and skills to the classroom or
other relevant educational settings in an independent and
authentic application of theory to practice. Credit registration form,
syllabus and evaluation criteria checklists for projects will be
provided the day of the workshop. Checklists are designed to
clarify and outline project requirements. Registration for graduate
credit is in addition to workshop fee.
Cost per credit is $175.00.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations made within two weeks of the
conference will receive no reimbursement.
Substitutions are allowed. Cancellations prior
to two weeks to the conference will be subject
to a $30 administration fee- these will be
accepted only in writing.

Meals:
Lunch will be on your own. Breakfast and
afternoon snack are included in your
registration fee.

Books:
We will have a large bookstore at the
conference. There will be over 85 different
titles related to autism. Purchase orders, Visa,
Mastercard, checks and cash are accepted.

Participants will learn practical ways of supporting students with autism spectrum
disorders (ASD) and other significant disabilities. Topics addressed include defining
ASD, differentiating instruction in the diverse classroom, encouraging literacy
development, making the classroom comfortable for all learners, and supporting
behaviors and bodies of students with a range of needs. This interactive presentation
will focus on the importance of pushing beyond participation and inclusion to asking
schools to understand every student as a complex and capable learner.
