This session will provide practical strategies for teaching teenagers of all ability levels the necessary life skills of self-care, self-regulation, self-advocacy, and self-esteem. What and how to explain about puberty, relationship boundaries and sexuality will be discussed, as will common adolescent concerns such as bullying and masturbation. Areas to be covered include: individualized transition plans, focusing on the student’s strengths, developing work/career skills, preparing for college, different types of employment structures, employer needs and the use of mentors.

Conference Registration Form
Fees:
Please see the conference registration form for prices. Payment or
purchase orders MUST be received by February 7, 2007.
Meals:
Lunch will be on your own. Breakfast and afternoon snack are
included in your registration fee.
Books:
We will have a large bookstore at the conference. There will be over
80 different titles related to autism. Purchase orders are accepted.
Continuing Education:
Certificates of attendance will be given out. There are a total of 12
contact hours for the conference.
Graduate Credit: (Parents are not eligible for graduate credit.)
Up to 2 credits are available. Workshop participants may choose to
register for graduate credit through Silver Lake College, Manitowoc,
Wisconsin. Silver Lake College is accredited by the North Central
Association of Colleges and the National Council for Accreditation of
Teacher Education (NCATE).
Participants who choose this option will have the opportunity to
extend the workshop knowledge and skills to the classroom or other
relevant educational settings in an independent and authentic
application of theory to practice. Credit registration form, syllabus
and evaluation criteria checklists for projects will be provided the day
of the workshop. Checklists are designed to clarify and outline
project requirements. Cost per credit is $340.00. Registration for
graduate credit is in addition to workshop fee.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations made within two weeks of the
conference will receive no reimbursement.
Substitutions are allowed. Cancellations
prior to two weeks to the conference will be
subject to a $30 administration fee- these
will be accepted only in writing.
