Cancellations made within two weeks of the conference will receive no reimbursement. Substitutions are allowed.
Cancellations made prior to the two weeks before the conference will be charged a $30 administration fee. No refunds
will be made for those cancelling during the two weeks before the conference. No exceptions. Cancellations will be
accepted only in writing.
Meals:
No food will be provided. Lunch will be on your own. The Holiday Inn has a restaurant where food can be purchased.
Books:
We will have an extensive ASD bookstore at the conference. Purchase orders, Visa, MC, Discover, checks and cash
are accepted.
4 Options for Educational Credit:
1. 6 or 12 CPDUs from the Illinois State Board of Education are available for this conference for no extra charge. Forms
will be filled out at the conference.
2. Certificate of Attendance- This certificate is available for no extra charge at the conference. It outlines the content
and hours of instruction.
3. IACET CEU’s (International Association for Continuing Education and Training) are offered for an additional $25.00
for this conference. Individuals wishing to earn 0.6 (for one day) or 1.2 (for two days) CEUs are advised to check with
their certification body, licensure agency, and/or employer to determine if IACET CEUs can be used to satisfy specific

4. Graduate Credit- Workshop participants may choose to earn graduate credit from Silver Lake College for extending
the knowledge and skills gained in the workshop to an independent and authentic application of theory to practice within
his/her relevant educational and/or professional setting. Some workshops are available for either one (1) OR two (2)
graduate credits; other workshops are available only for one (1) graduate credit. Please refer to the credit registration
form and the syllabi regarding the credit options available.

Building Social Relationship in Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders,
with Scott Bellini, Ph.D.
This engaging workshop will provide an overview of a social skill instructional model developed
by Dr. Bellini. The workshop will provide research on social-emotional functioning as well as
practical and effective strategies for teaching social interaction skills to children and
adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs). The model provides a systematic and
implementation of effective social skills programming.
Learning Objectives for Participants:
-Increase knowledge of social and emotional functioning
-Increase awareness of the relationship between social skill deficits and social anxiety
-Develop skills necessary to assess social functioning
-Increase awareness of skill acquisition versus performance deficits
-Increase awareness of available social skills strategies
-Develop skills necessary to implement social skills strategies

Dr. Liane Holliday Willey, a national speaker, author, editor, and self-advocate is one of the
USA Today, Psychology Today, ABC News, and dozens of other national and international
media. Liane has been the subject of many national and international media stories and has
written several books on Autism Spectrum Disorders, including the best selling book, editor
for Autism Spectrum Quarterly and an ASD consultant for B.R.A.I.N.S. Inc, in Grand memories
as a very young child, to her world as she now experiences it. Included in her presentation is
information on how teachers and others supported and taught her and how she came to
understand and cope with her Asperger’s Syndrome. Liane will also present her vision of how
we can make life for all students on the Autism Spectrum more rich and rewarding. Following
the presentation, the audience will have a clearer understanding of the language, social,
executive functioning, sensory integration, and psychological difficulties Asperger syndrome
typically causes. With this knowledge in hand, educators and parents should find it possible
to design solid supports and strategies for academic, emotional and physical success.

AS (Asperger Syndrome)
-Define and explain the unique cognitive patterns of people with AS
-Design strategies to improve cognitive processing and problem solving techniques among
