Maria Wheeler, M.Ed. is an educational and behavioral consultant based in Dallas, who
serves various school districts, educational agencies, and families throughout Texas and
the nation. She provides on-site behavior intervention planning and consultation for
educators serving students with autism and other neurobehavioral disorders, as well as
on-site coaching for in-home trainers, parent training, and professional development
training.

Maria earned her BA in psychology and her MA in special education and has 22 years
experience working in these fields. She uses strategies developed from several approaches,
including structured teaching, visual cues and schedules, social stories, sensory based
therapy, and applied behavior analysis.
Prior to her consulting work, Maria had served as a special education teacher and as
director of behavioral services for residential treatment centers serving adults and children
with neurobehavioral disorders and developmental disabilities. She co-authored the book,
"A Treasure Chest of Behavioral Strategies for individuals with Autism," and wrote the book,
"Toilet Training for Individuals with Autism and Related Disorders."
