Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations made within two weeks of the conference will receive no reimbursement.  Cancellations made prior to the two weeks before the
conference will be subject to a $30 administration fee.  No refunds will be made for those cancelling during the two weeks before the conference.
No exceptions.  Cancellations will be accepted only in writing via email, post mail or fax.  Always verify that the cancellation was received.



Books:
We will have an extensive ASD bookstore at the conference. Purchase orders, credit cards, checks and cash are accepted.

3 Options for Educational Credit:
1.
Certificate of Attendance: This free certificate is available after completion of each day of the training.  It outlines the content and hours of
instruction.  There are six hours of instruction for each day of presentation.

2. 0.6 CEUs (for one day attendance) are available for a $15 fee, or 1.2 CEUs (for two day attendance) are available for a $25 fee.  IACET
(International Association for Continuing Education and Training) CEUs are offered for this conference.  Individuals wishing to earn CEUs are
advised to check with their certification body, licensure agency, and/or employer to determine if IACET CEUs can be used to satisfy specific

click here. For ASHA members: Please note that we will not be reporting the CEUs directly to
ASHA. However, ASHA does accept IACET CEUs. When ASHA asks if you have completed all necessary CEUs, please include all IACET CEUs
on your report form. Keep your IACET certificate in case of ASHA audit, as proof of attendance.

3. Graduate Credit- Workshop participants may choose to earn graduate credit from Silver Lake College for extending the knowledge and skills
gained in the workshop to an independent and authentic application of theory to practice within his/her relevant educational and/or professional
setting. Some workshops are available for either one (1) OR two (2) graduate credits; other workshops are available only for one (1) graduate
credit. Please refer to the credit registration form and the syllabi regarding the credit options available.

Dr. Baker is currently the Director of the Social Skills Training Project in Maplewood, New Jersey.  Their
organization provides assessments and interventions for school-aged children that have social skill difficulties
and/or behavioral problems.  Dr. Baker has been a clinical psychologist since 1992.  He is on the professional
advisory board of ASPEN, ANSWER, YAI, the Kelberman Center and several other autism organizations.  In
addition, he writes, lectures, and provides training internationally on the topic of social skills training and
managing challenging behaviors.  Dr. Baker is an award winning author of five books, and his work has been
featured on ABC World News, Nightline, the CBS Early Show, and the Discovery Health Channel.  

Presentation Description:
This workshop is about understanding challenging behaviors in ASD and other social communication disorders,
with an overview of behavior management techniques.  Specific, user-friendly strategies and techniques for
providing relevant social skills instruction to children and teens with ASD will be shared during the conference.  
Enjoyable socialization methods are emphasized so individuals may experience success and desire to build skills.  
Social deficits and disruptive behavior affect life at home, school and eventually in the workplace.  Conference
participants will learn both highly beneficial strategies that can be used across a variety of settings and routines;
and practical and effective solutions to assist "typical" peers, family members and professionals in increasing their
successful support of individuals with ASD.

Dr. Ernsperger is a recognized expert in the field of autism and behavioral disorders, with more than 25 years of
experience as a classroom teacher, administrator, and behavioral consultant.  She received her doctorate in
Special Education from Indiana University.  Currently, Dr. Ernsperger lives in Nevada, where she owns and
operates Autism and Behavioral Consulting, a firm that works with school district personnel and parents to provide
effective educational programs and strategies for students with ASD and behavioral disorders.  She has written
three well-known books on behavior and school strategies for children and adolescents with ASDs.

Presentation Description:
Increasing numbers of students are being identified with pervasive developmental disorders which include autism
and Asperger Syndrome.  School personnel are faced with a growing number of instructional strategies and quick-
fix approaches to meet the unique needs of this growing population.  Dr. Lori Ernsperger will engage you in a
highly interactive and fast-paced seminar addressing the many questions and concerns you have as a special
education teacher, general education teacher, paraprofessional, or therapist who works with these students.  She
will share evidence based practices and strategies for increasing learning and promoting positive behavior, along
with ready-to-implement ways to develop predictable schedules, organize the environment, create behavior
intervention plans, and collect data for progress monitoring.  You will leave this conference with dozens of ideas
and strategies to help you make a real difference in your student’s learning.

1. Use practical evidence based practices as identified by the National Professional Development Center
2. Review classroom-tested ways to increase student learning by using age-appropriate schedules, predictable
routines, and providing visual organization designed specifically for students with ASD
